Court Technology

The responsibilities of the Court Technology Office (IT) include the planning, managing, and evaluating of various technologies and services for the First Judicial Circuit.  Primary systems include wide area network devices and connections, data servers, e-mail systems, system security software, Internet access, desktop and laptop computers, printers, video conferencing systems, website management, telephone and voice conferencing systems, help desk support, and digital court reporting systems.

Video Conferencing Policy
Court Administration can provide world-wide video conferencing for criminal trials and hearings to any courtroom, chamber, or jail in the First Judicial Circuit.   Please note, video conferencing is a complex technical event and requires detailed coordination by all of the participants on both sides of the connection to be successful.  Proper notice and information must be given to Court Administration's IT department before any event can be schedule.

The First Judicial Circuit provides the use of courtroom technology as a courtesy to the legal profession and court participants.  The Court will make every effort to ensure the equipment is working properly.  However, the Court does not guarantee the reliability of the equipment.  The Court is not responsible for the user's own negligence or lack of knowledge in operation of the equipment.  The user agrees to hold the Court harmless for any failure of the equipment and any and all claims, damages, action, causes of action, suits in equity whatever kind or nature as a result of the use of the equipment.  The Court advises the users of this equipment that the Court will not be responsible for any delays caused by the failure of the equipment.  Users of the equipment should have back-up material suitable for use in the courtroom in the event of equipment failure.
