Class Title: Part Time Magistrate Assistant
Salary: $12.00/hour – 25 Hours Weekly

This position provides routine clerical support and assistance to a department, division, unit, or group, including reception, filing, copying, typing, telephone and scheduling duties.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Performs various clerical duties, utilizing standard office equipment, to include: screening incoming calls; taking and transmitting messages; distributing mail; making photocopies; performing data entry; scheduling appointments and maintaining calendar for supervisor and/or department activities; typing; and word processing.
Responds to requests for information, in person, via e-mail, and over the phone; answers routine questions and provides information; directs visitors to appropriate locations.
Enters a variety of information into applicable documents, spreadsheets, work orders, databases, logs, forms, and/or other related areas, utilizing established guidelines and procedures.
Receives, sorts, and distributes a variety of correspondence, deliveries and mail.
Initiates and/or processes routine and/or specialized paperwork, forms, and/or confidential information related to assigned area or responsibility; maintains related records.
Attends hearings, takes notes and prepares court orders.
Assists in preparing and maintaining court documents. Files documents alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods.
Calculates child support obligations based on established formulas and guidelines.
Monitors inventory, supplies and materials in assigned area of responsibility; notifies appropriate individual(s) when items require replenishing.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.), typing speed of 35 wpm without errors, basic math and reading skills, and ability to use most office equipment and computer software; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Customer service principles, keyboarding techniques, modern office procedures, methods, and equipment, basic filing and recordkeeping principles; English language, grammar and punctuation.
Using a computer and related software applications; providing customer service; utilizing modern office equipment; handling multiple tasks simultaneously; typing routine correspondence, memos, vouchers, and/or other related information; maintaining files; performing routine mathematical calculations; keyboarding; communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
